To celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Quinta do Lago-owned The Magnolia Hotel, the highly acclaimed resort has unveiled some great value stay-and-play golf packages to enjoy over the coming months.
The Algarve resort boasts one of the most exclusive reputations in Europe, yet the award-winning destination’s acquisition of the chic 1950s-inspired motor hotel Magnolia means can offer a host of amazing deals with attractive prices.
Three-night bed-and-breakfast breaks including golf transfers and two rounds at the North Course and Laranjal are bookable until May 31 for £367 (€415) per person, while five-night, four-round stays including transfers and golf at the North Course, Laranjal and South Course (two rounds) cost £676 per person (€773) and a seven-night break with five rounds at the South (two) Laranjal (two) and the North is £878 (€1,004). All prices are based on two people sharing a twin or double room.
The Magnolia Hotel has undergone a major revamp and is set to become one of the most sought-after accommodation options in the region thanks to its vibrant, yet intimate, atmosphere.
As part of the upgrade, the 74-bedroom hotel now offers guests modern and stylish rooms with private balconies, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art Wellness Centre providing a range of treatments, a lively poolside bar and a revamped kitchen serving a delicious array of local foods.
Quinta do Lago is situated just 15 minutes from Faro airport, and, with year-round sun, The Magnolia Hotel is the perfect base to enjoy the resort’s three world-renowned golf courses – the North and South Courses and Laranjal – as well as a choice of 10 restaurants, including the much-loved Bovino Steakhouse.
Historically, Quinta do Lago forged its name thanks to its outstanding golf courses and practice facilities, including the TaylorMade Performance Centre – the only one in southern Europe – and the Paul McGinley Academy.

The South Course recently rose a staggering 35 places in the coveted Top 100 Golf Courses of Continental Europe website to 43rd spot – the second biggest climber in the standings. Enjoying the picturesque backdrop of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the layout, host of the Portuguese Open on eight occasions, has long been popular with visitors to the Algarve.
The North Course – redesigned in the autumn of 2014 by renowned American designer Beau Welling and former victorious European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley at a cost of €9.6 million – moved up three places to 92nd in the rankings.
And the scenic par-72 Laranjal, which meanders through orange groves and boasts a natural feel, won Portugal’s Best Golf Course of 2011 at the Portuguese Travel Awards.
But Quinta do Lago offers far more than golf thanks to its first-class amenities, including the exciting new The CAMPUS – a world-class sports hub that is designed for all visitors, whether they are professional athletes in need of a state-of-the-art training facility, or sports enthusiasts wanting to keep fit.
Already completed is phase one, boasting a high-tech Desso Hybrid Grassmaster pitch, which has already attracted some of the biggest professional football clubs in the world this year as part of their training camps.
There are also top-of-the-range acrylic and synthetic clay tennis and padel courts, and the Bike Shed, a social hub at the heart of the complex that gives access to a host of scenic routes to suit recreational and competitive cyclists and triathletes.
Set in the secluded grounds of Quinta do Lago, the 45,000 sq foot The CAMPUS will be completed in the next few month when the fully-equipped multisport training, performance, recovery, rehabilitation, aquatic and hydrotherapy centre will be fully open.
