A standout line-up of golfing events at Another Place, The Machrie (Scottish Golf Hotel of the Year 2023/24) welcomes players to an unforgettable 2025 season on the Isle of Islay.

Set against the backdrop of fresh Atlantic air, sweeping island views, and warm Islay hospitality, Another Place, The Machrie will host three unmissable competition weekends for pairs, individuals and teams in April, June and October.

Each event takes place on The Machrie’s championship links, ranked 78th in the World Top 100 courses, offering an exhilarating challenge amid the breath-taking dunes of Laggan Bay.

These exclusive competitions feature a sociable shotgun start, two action-packed rounds over two days, and a bonus practice round on arrival, giving players the perfect chance to get to know The Machrie’s renowned fairways and undulating greens. With a limited field of players, the events promise a thrilling yet laidback golfing experience, complete with dramatic elevation changes, generous prizes, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Machrie Four-Ball Championship
A pairs event
25 – 27 April 2025

A great way to start the season, this competitive yet sociable 36-hole four-ball event gives partner players three memorable rounds on Another Place, The Machrie’s world-class links – where teamwork, strategy and good golf go hand in hand.

SCHEDULE
Friday 25 April: Players can settle into Islay life before warming up with a practice round on the championship links.
Saturday 26 April: Following a free morning to walk on the beach/explore the grounds and a players’ lunch, tee off is at 1.30pm for a course-wide shotgun start to the first tournament round. A chef’s barbeque dinner and prize presentation will close day one.
Sunday 27 April: Breakfast will be served before a 7.30am all-player start. A final lunch and prize presentation round off the weekend.

The Machrie Open
An individual event, supported by Ardnahoe distillery
27 – 29 June 2025
£144pp / £96 Islay Golf Club Members
Participants can put their game to the test on the championship links at the height of the Hebridean summer, when the course is in peak condition and the days at their longest. Another Place, The Machrie’s flagship Open competition, supported by
Ardnahoe distillery, is a true 36-hole challenge – perfect for those chasing a low score as well as enthusiasts just looking for a great weekend of golf in stunning surroundings.
SCHEDULE
Friday 27 June: Participants arrive and get settled before heading out for a practice round on the championship links.
Saturday 28 June: A relaxed morning and social lunch will set players up for a 1.30pm shotgun start to the first tournament round, before swapping stories from the course over a chef’s barbeque dinner as prizes for day one are handed out.
Sunday 29 June: Breakfast will be served bright and early before a course-wide 7.30am shotgun start. A final lunch and prize presentation bring the weekend to a close.

Machrie Team Championship
A four-player team golf competition
3 – 5 October 2025
£120pp / £80 Islay Golf Club Members
The Machrie Team Championship ends the season in style, inviting teams of four players to come together on the championship links for a challenging, and camaraderie-boosting, group golf competition with three rounds over three days.
SCHEDULE
Friday 3 October: Teams can settle in, then get their eye in with a practice round on the championship links.
Saturday 4 October: A proper lunch and time to reset sets teams up for a sociable 1.30pm shotgun start to the first tournament round. A chef’s barbeque dinner and the first prize presentation rounds off the day.
Sunday 5 October: Breakfast, before the 7.30am all-player start. A closing lunch and prize presentation bring the weekend to a fitting finish.
